Why is an Attribute blank after processing or missing from output?

Diagnose why an Attribute stays empty after AI processing or is missing from generated listing output.

This applies when an Attribute stays empty after AI processing or when a generated title or description skips its value. A blank Attribute can come from an empty grid cell, a mismatched template placeholder, incomplete Google Lens settings, insufficient information for the requested data point, or conflicting AI instructions.

Work through these checks

  • Is the grid value actually filled on that product? Open the product row and confirm the field has a value. If the cell is empty, the template has nothing to output.

  • Are you using the exact @attribute_name in Templates? The placeholder has to match the attribute name exactly. If the attribute was renamed or the placeholder was typed differently, output stays blank even when the grid value exists.

  • Is the Attribute fully enabled for Google Lens? In Set up Attributes in Dropstitch, confirm that the Attribute is active and has both Include in AI Output and Use Google Lens enabled. If any of these settings are off, Google Lens will not research that Attribute.

  • Did Google Lens find useful information for the requested data point? Require AI output tells AI that the field should not be skipped, but it does not guarantee a Google Lens result. If Google Lens cannot find enough reliable information for the requested data point, that Attribute can stay empty while the rest of the product finishes processing, and there may not be a useful Research Report. Make the Attribute or AI Instructions request one clear data point, then try one item with clearer photos or known details. Enter the result manually in the grid when needed. If the Attribute is also Required for Submission, it blocks publishing until you add a result.

  • Do the AI instructions match the attribute setup? If you have several overlapping custom or system attributes, or the instructions contradict the field type or purpose, simplify the setup and rewrite the instructions so the model gets one clear job.

  • Is the output you are checking older than the latest field change? Regenerate or refresh the product output after updating the field so you are checking the current result, not an older version.

Success check

  • The Attribute value is visible in the product grid.

  • The same value appears in generated output after you rerun or refresh the product output.

  • If Google Lens could not find the requested data point, the manually entered result appears in the grid and generated output.
