Get started with Dropstitch

Choose the right way to capture product images for Dropstitch, then complete your first live listing.

Start by choosing how products will enter Dropstitch:

  • Dropstitch mobile app if you already use your phone for product photography

  • Desktop folder upload if you work from a studio setup or process larger folders

  • Import existing inventory if your products are already on Shopify, eBay, WooCommerce, Vinted, or Depop

Before you start

  • Connect at least one destination in Set up Marketplaces & Cross-listing.

  • If your first publish will go to Depop, Vinted, or Grailed, install the Dropstitch Chrome extension and authenticate that marketplace first.

  • If your first publish will go to Vinted, follow Build a trusted Vinted browser session for reliable Dropstitch publishing so early-session behavior does not block your first listing days.

  • Make sure you have at least one active title template and one active description template in Set up Templates in Dropstitch.

  • Decide how you are capturing product images:

  • Dropstitch mobile app if you already use your phone for product photography

  • Desktop folder upload if you work from a studio setup or process larger folders

  • Prepare one product or one small clean test batch.

How it works

Dropstitch has 3 main ways to get products into the same workflow:

Photography workflow

Best for

What happens next

Dropstitch mobile app

Phone-based product photography, solo sellers, small teams, and mobile listing workflows

Capture, measure, edit in List, and submit listings to connected marketplaces

Desktop folder upload

Studio setups, larger folders, and larger batch workflows

Upload photos in List, check grouping in Product Studio, then continue on desktop

Import existing inventory

Products already listed on a supported marketplace

Choose products in Import, then review them in Stockroom

Both photography workflows feed into the same Dropstitch workflow. After products enter Dropstitch, you review them, complete any required fields, and publish to a connected marketplace from mobile or desktop.

For first publish, the important thing is learning that full path once. Your first success is not a perfect setup. It is proving that the end-to-end flow works for your inventory and your connected channel.

Templates are part of that path from the start. Dropstitch uses your Templates and Attributes to generate title and description output, so those basics need to be in place before you publish.

How to use it

If your products are already on a supported marketplace, follow Import existing products into Dropstitch. Otherwise, continue with the photography workflow below.

  1. Open Settings > Marketplaces and make sure one marketplace is connected.

  2. Open Settings > Templates and confirm you have a working title template and description template.

  3. Choose how you are capturing product images:

  • Dropstitch mobile app: capture, measure, edit, and publish one product from iPhone

  • Desktop folder upload: open List and upload one product or one small test batch

  1. If you used desktop folder upload, confirm the photos are grouped correctly in Product Studio.

  2. Let the products move into Product Buffer.

  3. Add the ready products to the grid.

  4. Review price, generated title, generated description, and any required marketplace fields.

  5. Publish to one connected marketplace first.

  6. Open Stockroom and use the marketplace icon there to confirm the product is live.

Success check

  • At least one product shows as published in Dropstitch.

  • The same product is visible on the connected marketplace.

  • You can verify the live listing from the marketplace icon in Stockroom.

Tips

  • Recommended approach: keep the first run simple so you can validate Photos in -> listings out fast.

  • If you already photograph products on your phone, start with the Dropstitch mobile app.

  • If your team works from a studio setup or larger folders, start with desktop folder upload.

  • Start with one marketplace first, even if you plan to cross-list later.

  • If grouping is wrong, fix that before you spend time editing title, description, or channel fields.

Advanced settings

  • Optional customization path: after your first successful publish, tighten Set up Images in Dropstitch, Set up Attributes in Dropstitch, and channel-specific Shopify settings.

  • This path is slower, but it gives you tighter control over output before you scale up batch volume.

  • Use this second phase when you want Dropstitch to reflect your exact listing style, not just your minimum publish path.

Troubleshooting

Value reflection

Without a locked first-publish flow, every one-of-one item triggers the same manual checks again: grouping, generated copy, required fields, and live-status confirmation. Dropstitch turns that into one repeatable path, so operators spend less time rechecking setup and more time moving inventory. Once the basics are dialed in, the same workflow scales much faster batch after batch.
