Why are my barcode labels not printing or scanning correctly?

Diagnose barcode labels that fail to generate, print badly, or do not scan reliably.

This applies when barcode labels exist in your workflow, but the printed result is missing, unreadable, or inconsistent.

Work through these checks

  • Was Generate Barcode enabled before those products were listed? Products listed before barcode generation was turned on will not automatically gain printable barcode output from that earlier run.

  • Is the selected barcode format matched to the actual labels and printer? If the format and physical media do not match, the PDF can print incorrectly even when the barcode itself exists.

  • Does the printed barcode fail to scan? Increase print quality, recalibrate the printer media, and scan-test one sheet before running a full batch.

  • Is the label showing the wrong currency or printed fields? Check Set up Barcodes in Dropstitch and your localization setup so the printed output matches your expected fields.

Success check

  • The label PDF generates correctly.

  • Printed labels scan reliably and show the fields you intended.
