✂️ Image Tiling: Auto-Generated Detail Shots

Image tiling helps you create professional-looking detail images in an instant.

Updated over a week ago

📸 What Is Image Tiling?

When enabled, Dropstitch takes the first image of your product (the one in position 1) and splits it into cropped detail shots based on your settings.

These cropped images are then added to your product as detail images, helping buyers see close-up elements like stitching, logos, fabric texture, or print placement.

📐 Image tiling always maintains the original image ratio—so your cropped sections are proportionally accurate.

🧠 How It Works

  1. Enable tiling via Settings → Preferences →Upload Settings → Image Tiling

  2. Select the crop areas you want to include. Options include:

    • Top

    • Left

    • Right

    • Bottom

    • Top Left

    • Top Right

    • Bottom Left

    • Bottom Right

    • Center

  3. Once set, Dropstitch will automatically generate these crops from the first image each time a new product is uploaded or updated.

🛠️ Managing Image Tiling Settings

To customize your tiling setup:

  1. Click Change next to Image Tiling in Upload Settings

  2. Select or remove crop positions as needed

  3. Click Update Image Tiling to save changes

Tiling applies only to the first image of each product and updates automatically when that image is changed.

💡 When to Use It

Image tiling is especially useful when:

  • You want consistent detail images without extra photography work

  • Your products have small but important visual elements (like vintage tags, sleeve prints, stitching)

  • You’re bulk uploading and want every item to have a clean, multi-angle presentation

🧠 Tips

  • For best results, use well-lit, straight-on product images with a clean background

  • Consider using tiling together with background removal or padding for more polished detail crops

  • You can always delete or reorder generated tiles manually in the Product Buffer

🧵 Summary

Image Tiling is a small but powerful feature that helps automate detailed product presentation. By slicing the main image into focused views, it boosts buyer confidence and listing quality—without extra effort from your side.
