List items on Whatnot through Shopify

Use Shopify as the bridge between Dropstitch and Whatnot so products you list to Shopify can appear in your Whatnot profile.

Dropstitch does not need a separate Whatnot publishing connection for this workflow. List your items to Shopify from Dropstitch, then use the free Whatnot Shopify app to sync those Shopify products into Whatnot.

Before you start

How it works

Dropstitch sends products to Shopify. The Whatnot Shopify app then uses your Shopify catalog as the source for your Whatnot inventory.

In this setup, Shopify is the source of truth for synced product data such as title, description, price, variants, and inventory. If you need Whatnot-specific values, such as a different Whatnot price, set those in Shopify using the Whatnot app's Shopify fields rather than editing the shared product data directly in Whatnot.

That means the publishing path is:

  1. Prepare the item in Dropstitch.

  2. List or sync the item to Shopify.

  3. Publish the Shopify product to the Whatnot sales channel.

  4. Let the Whatnot Shopify app sync the Shopify product into Whatnot.

  5. Manage the item from Whatnot for livestream or Buy It Now selling.

The Whatnot app is managed by Whatnot, not Dropstitch. Dropstitch controls the product data it sends to Shopify; Whatnot controls how that product is synced and displayed inside your Whatnot account.

How to use it

  1. Install the Whatnot Shopify app on your Shopify store.

  2. Follow the Whatnot app setup steps inside Shopify and connect the correct Whatnot seller account.

  3. In Dropstitch, open List.

  4. Prepare the products you want to send to Whatnot.

  5. Select the products and click Bulk List.

  6. Choose Shopify as the destination.

  7. Complete the publish flow so the products are created or updated in Shopify.

  8. Open Shopify and confirm the products are present in your catalog.

  9. In Shopify, publish those products to the Whatnot sales channel.

  10. Open the Whatnot sales channel in Shopify and check that the products synced successfully.

  11. Open Whatnot and confirm the synced products appear in your Whatnot profile or inventory area.

Success check

  • The product appears in Shopify after publishing from Dropstitch.

  • The product is published to the Whatnot sales channel in Shopify.

  • The product appears in your Whatnot profile or Whatnot inventory after the Whatnot Shopify app syncs. Whatnot says newly synced Shopify products normally appear as Buy It Now inventory first, then can be activated or added to a live show from Whatnot.

  • Any later order or inventory behavior follows the Whatnot Shopify app setup, not a separate Dropstitch-to-Whatnot connection.

Tips

  • Recommended approach: test with one product first before sending a large batch.

  • Keep your Shopify titles, descriptions, prices, photos, SKUs, weights, and inventory quantities clean before relying on the Whatnot sync.

  • If you already use Shopify as your central catalog, this is the cleanest Whatnot route because Dropstitch only has to maintain the Shopify listing.

  • For one-of-one vintage items, confirm the synced Whatnot item before a livestream so the exact product, size, condition, and photos are correct.

  • If an item needs a different Whatnot price, title, description, or condition, configure that through the Whatnot Shopify app's supported Shopify fields and follow Whatnot's guide.

Troubleshooting

  • The item is not in Shopify: publish the item to Shopify from Dropstitch first, then check Stockroom or Shopify directly.

  • The item is in Shopify but not in Whatnot: open the Whatnot Shopify app in Shopify and check the app connection, whether the product is published to the Whatnot sales channel, and whether the product appears in failed inventory.

  • The item failed to sync in Whatnot: check Whatnot's error message first. Common Whatnot-side requirements can include title, image, price, inventory quantity, weight, shipping profile, active product status, and valid variant data.

  • The wrong Whatnot account is connected: update the connected account inside the Whatnot Shopify app.

  • Inventory does not look right after a sale: check the Whatnot Shopify app settings first, because order and inventory sync are handled by the Whatnot app after the Shopify product exists.

  • You need deeper Whatnot setup help: use Whatnot's Shopify x Whatnot Integration guide or contact Whatnot Support. Dropstitch can help with the product data it sends to Shopify, but not with the internal behavior of the Whatnot sales channel.

Value reflection

Without this Shopify bridge, Whatnot listing would become another manual product-entry step after Dropstitch has already created the listing data. Using Shopify as the central catalog lets Dropstitch prepare the one-of-one item once, then lets the Whatnot app move that product into Whatnot. For vintage sellers running livestreams or Buy It Now drops, this keeps the daily workflow closer to one catalog instead of another separate upload routine.
